Africa Business Group

The Africa Business Group (ABG) is a growing company that specialises in designing, promoting, facilitating and implementing African economic development projects – with a particular focus on supporting private sector engagement. The company focuses on three key areas: Consulting, Projects, and Capacity Development. Africa Business Group is based in Johannesburg, South Africa and has associates in London, New York, Nairobi, Ghana, and Ethiopia.

African Studies Center - University of Michigan

The African Studies Center (ASC) at the University of Michigan provides strategic guidance and coordination for Africa-related education, research, and training activities on campus, and promotes opportunities for collaboration with African partners on the continent. Particularly relevant to the ADN project are: STEM-Africa: The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Initiative (STEM-Africa) nurtures the study of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in Africa, which extends scientific knowledge and yields solutions to global problems. UMAPS Program: The U-M African Presidential Scholars (UMAPS) Program supports the development of the next generation of African scholars by integrating them into international academic networks, and promotes U-M’s international commitment to research and teaching collaborations across diverse disciplines, from engineering to literature to economics.

The Hasso Plattner School of Design Thinking at University of Cape Town (d-school) Graduate School of Business in Soutrh Afriva. "The d-school is a place where we teach and nurture the design-led mindset by leveraging our diversity and unlocking our natural creative capacity."

icipe -International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology

icipe's mission is to help alleviate poverty, ensure food security and improve the overall health status of peoples of the tropics, by developing and extending management tools and strategies for harmful and useful arthropods, while preserving the natural resource base through research and capacity building. The Centre's vision is to pioneer global science in entomology, to improve the well being and resilience of people and the environment to the challenges of a changing world, through innovative and applied research, alongside deep exploratory study, impact assessment, evaluation, and sustainable capacity building.  Particularly relevant to ADN:  BioInnovate Africa:Bioresources innovation network for Eastern Africa development supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and based at icipe in Nairobi, Kenya. The Programme supports scientists and innovators in the region to link biological based research ideas and technologies to business and the market.

KTH Global Development Hub -Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden

By establishing KTH Global Development Hub, KTH is developing coordinated education and innovation activities for global development. We are creating a new cooperation model to find solutions for locally formulated challenges. We are working on an educational method that develops skills, new business models, technologies and services which solve social challenges with relevance in both Sweden and Africa. The initiative is scalable and will inspire others. The innovation capacity is developed by bringing together ecosystems in Stockholm and Sweden with expanding ecosystems in relevant countries in Africa.

Mbale Center for Innovation and Design

The Mbale Center for Innovation and Design exists in the rural, fragile ecological zone of the Mt. Elgon region of Uganda where subject matter experts, NGOs, and others can meet with local youth to co-design and test solutions to problems including clean water, local manufacturing, and energy-saving solutions.

Makerere University College of Engineering, Design, Art, and Technology

ResilientAfrica Network (RAN)

The ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) funded by USAID is a partnership of 20 African universities in 13 countries led by Makerere University in Uganda. RAN aims to strengthen the resilience of communities by nurturing and scaling innovations from the different universities and apply science and technology to strengthen the resilience of African communities against natural and man-made stresses.
